Dear Simplyblock Community,
As the year draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on the data infrastructure landscape. We are also starting to think about what 2025 might bring and how to embrace it.
This year has brought significant shifts in the tech landscape. The growth of AI workloads reshaped storage needs, driving the adoption of NVMe-first architectures to address GPU bottlenecks. NVMe solidified its position as the gold standard for all kinds of high-performance workloads. Public cloud providers continued their rapid expansion, with multi-cloud and hybrid strategies becoming standard practice for large enterprises.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises exciting developments, including Kubernetes expansion and AI-driven storage shifts. Kubernetes is set for further expansion and success on the way to becoming the universal cloud operating system. It is transforming how enterprises manage both stateless and stateful workloads. In today’s newsletter, we cover Kubernetes Storage and its principles in detail.
The focus of AI storage should evolve from training to inference, introducing new demands for flexibility and efficiency. Additionally, the rising cost of storage for AI and data lakes might drive the need for smarter, tiered solutions that balance cost and performance effectively. That’s naturally something that we will continue working on.
Thank you for being part of the simplyblock community. We look forward to supporting your goals in the year ahead. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and restful Christmas and the holiday season.
Merry Christmas!

The simplyblock team wishes you a wonderful Christmas time and the best to you, your family, and all the systems you manage.
May the resilience god with your services and give you a silent night. To make sure, let us celebrate with a small poem.
It’s Christmas Day, the present’s ready, the server runs all smooth and steady. No candles on the tree this year, though server lights, dazzling, my dear. Your storage isn’t asking for forgiveness, thanks to simplyblock; oh Merry Christmas.

Encryption At Rest: A Comprehensive Guide to DARE
Today, data is the “new gold” for companies. That means data protection is becoming increasingly important. That’s where encryption at rest comes into the picture, helping companies to ensure data security. Data at rest encryption (DARE) is the process of encrypting data when stored on a storage medium.

Kubernetes Storage 201: Concepts and Practical Examples
Kubernetes storage is a sophisticated ecosystem designed to address the complex data management needs of containerized applications. At its core, Kubernetes storage provides a flexible mechanism to manage data across dynamic, distributed computing environments.

Mastering Canary Deployments with flagger and Kubernetes
Canary deployment is a popular strategy for releasing new versions of an application while minimizing the impact of potential issues on users. By gradually rolling out new features or updates to a small percentage of users and monitoring their experience, you can identify and fix any problems before they affect the entire user base.

Enhancing the Security in Headlamp’s Helm Chart
Securing deployment units like Helm charts is important. Headlamp, just published a blog post on their efforts to implement Helm chart signatures to improve the security aspects. Read more
