In this Simplyblock Benchmark Report, we ran a comprehensive PostgreSQL benchmark using pgBench to test real-world OLTP performance on simplyblock, the software-defined NVMe storage solution. Designed to stress disk I/O by minimizing cache and memory buffers, these results showcase simplyblock’s raw throughput and scalability under pressure.
Highlights from the pgbench results:
- ✅ TPC-B (mixed workload): Up to 19K TPS with latency as low as 3 ms, demonstrating balanced performance across read/write operations.
- ✅ Simple Update (write-heavy): Exceeded 23K TPS, with consistent linear scaling and latency staying under 9 ms even at 200 clients.
- ✅ Select (read-only): Achieved a peak of over 287K TPS, showing Simplyblock’s ability to handle massive read throughput without saturating disk IOPS (~400K). Latency held steady at ~500 ms, limited by system timers, not storage.
These results validate simplyblock as a high-performance foundation for PostgreSQL databases, ideal for modern, high-concurrency, cloud-native environments.
